Lusaka, Zambia – Last week, the Global Student Forum (GSF) marked the transition of its Steering Committee during a series of in-person handover activities held at the sidelines of the AMACE23 conference, hosted by the All-Africa Students Union (AASU) and the Government of Zambia in Lusaka.
The one-year tenure of the outgoing 2022/2023 Steering Committee officially concluded on July 1st, 2023, paving the way for the newly elected Steering Committee to assume office for the 2023/2024 mandate. The handover activities provided an opportunity for the incoming and outgoing members to exchange knowledge, insights, and experiences to ensure a smooth transition.
GSF extends its heartfelt appreciation to the outgoing members of the Steering Committee for their outstanding contributions during their tenure. Hector Ulloa (Associate Membership – SAIH Norway), Ellen Dixon (Consociates – NZUSA New Zealand), Jacob Blasius (ESU – Denmark), Alexandra Seybal (OBESSU – Austria), Sherine Omondi (CSA – Kenya), Ashlegh Pfunye (AASU – Zimbabwe), and Bianca Borges (OCLAE – Brazil) have played pivotal roles in advancing the mission and objectives of the GSF over the past year.
The new Steering Committee comprises dedicated and passionate individuals who are eager to continue driving the GSF’s mission forward. Aisha Khurram (Associates – TSRN Afghanistan), Grace Franco (Consociates – NUS Australia), Katrina Sprogge (ESU – Latvia), Petr Franc (OBESSU – Czech Republic), Sudhakar Upadhyay (CSA – India), Amadou Jobarthe (AASU – The Gambia), and Amanda Harumy (OCLAE – Brazil) bring a wealth of diverse perspectives and expertise to the table.
As the new Steering Committee assumes its responsibilities, GSF reaffirms its commitment to amplifying the voices of students globally and advocating for their rights, education, and well-being. We look forward to working collaboratively with partners and stakeholders to create positive and meaningful change in education worldwide.
