Jacob Blasius is the Executive Director of the Global Student Forum (GSF), the independent umbrella organization representing the interests of students worldwide. With a robust background in student activism, international advocacy, and policy development, Jacob leads GSF’s global efforts to advance student rights, democratic participation, and inclusive education policies.
Prior to becoming Executive Director, Jacob significantly contributed to the European student movement, serving as a Board Member of the European Students' Union (ESU) and Chairperson of Students Organizing for Sustainability International. His tenure strengthened transnational cooperation among student organizations and fostered critical dialogue between student representatives, policymakers, and international institutions.
Jacob's areas of expertise include strategic advocacy, capacity-building for student unions, policy advising, and safeguarding students facing oppression. He is committed to promoting access to quality education and ensuring the meaningful inclusion of students in decision-making processes. Under his leadership, GSF has expanded its global influence, working collaboratively with international partners to position students as essential stakeholders in shaping education and society.
In addition to his leadership at GSF, Jacob Blasius is a member of the Youth Reference Group at the United Nations Youth Office (UNYO), and recently completed a two-year tenure as the Danish Youth Delegate to the UN for Democracy and Partnership, supported by the Danish Youth Council.
Jacob is doing an MSc in International Relations with a specialization in Global Refugee Studies from Aalborg University, where he previously earned a Bachelor’s degree in Language and International Studies. His earlier roles include is work as International Officer at the National Union of Students in Denmark (DSF).
